In 2023, ACTS was awarded an Enhanced Air Monitoring Grant by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The grant is a collaboration between ACTS, Coalition for Community Organizations (COCO) in Fifth Ward, Sunnyside Community Redevelopment Organization (SCRO), and Environmental Community Advocates of Galena Park (ECAGP). In the grant we will be adding 6 more monitors to community networks in Houston, and will be collecting important data on ethylene oxide, a pollutant that the EPA in 2016 classified as 30 times more cancer-causing than previously thought.
